Curves

If you know the equation, you can plot a curve point by point - but usually it's acceptable to sketch the shape from memory. Here are some common curves in the form of y = xn:


n = 1, y = x


n = 2, y = x2


n = 3, y = x3


n = 4, y = x4

You also need to know curves in the form of y = 1 ⁄ xn:


n = 1, y = 1 ⁄ x


n = 2, y = 1 ⁄ x2
