To do this, we need to differentiate the equation - when y = xn then dy/dx = nxn - 1

y = 2x2 - 5x + 3
dy/dx = 4x - 5


Now all we need to do is take the x coordinate from the point we've been given and put it into our differentiated equation to get the gradient.

dy/dx = 4 × 3 - 5 = 7

So the gradient is 7.
